History

  • Eric was born in the Year of the Monkey. He’s the child of a dentist/former electrician on the Redstone Rocket Program, and nurse instructor. Raised in the Santa Clara Valley during the aerospace years, he played in orchards that were fast giving way to subdivisions.
  • His school experience was greatly improved by creative instrumental and vocal music and performance emphases. Eric participated in Boy Scouting from age 10 and a half through 18, with summer camp staffing on and off through age 21.
  • He began martial arts studies in the late 1980's, which has continued until the present day, leading to a teaching license from Japan and a small group of dedicated students. For over a decade, Eric has studied dancing (swing/lindy hop in particular). Eric knows first hand that both martial arts study and partner dancing can lead an animator to a better understanding of balance, momentum and applied force.
  • Through college, much of Eric’s education focused on animation craft and live action filmmaking. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Film Animation (Cel, Cut-Out, Puppet) in 1991 from San Francisco State University.
  • As a professional animator, Eric first worked with EA tools professionals to create animation solutions for original CD game platforms. He then worked with such companies as 3DO and Disney Interactive to create early solid FMV and 3D character games. Eventually, he moved to Maxis to do the original The Sims animation and lead the animation team for the first expansion pack.
  • Currently, Eric is producing an original, character-driven, five-minute 3D animated short film for web and theatrical distribution. He has developed story-reel, initial sets (Maya), primary character models, rigging, effects, and lighting. Animation Final is projected in July of 2005.
  • Eric wants to bring Kermit the Frog’s “The Muppet Movie” goal " to make millions of people happy" to life again and again.
